This week we will have a unique opportunity to welcome some very special military guests of honor at our Friday Assembly!

Storybook Pumpkin Challenge!

Cannon Library is hosting a Storybook Pumpkin Challenge for any scholar who would like to enter. At home, families can decorate a pumpkin as their favorite book character, and scholars can bring their decorated pumpkin to the library beginning Monday, October 24, 2016. Click on the information below to learn more about this fun family challenge!!

Book of the Month Information!

Each month, all of our Cannon Cubs will be involved in reading our campus-wide Book of the Month in their classrooms. We have created a unique design challenge to go along with each book, some of which can be completed at home, as a family activity. This is such a great way to stay involved with your child! Sometimes, these design challenges will be campus-based and are done in the classrooms.

Our first Book of the Month is Ada Scientist and information about this book and the challenge is provided below. We invite your child to participate in this awesome Geyser Design Challenge for an explosive experience! Note that geysers will be tested at school on November 4th! Check it out!

Cannon Drawstring Backpacks For Sale!

Each student will receive a flyer this week about a new spirit item we are selling as a school fundraiser, Cannon drawstring backpacks are now available for only $8.00 each! Simply complete the order form that will come home this week and send back the form with cash or check (payable to Cannon Elementary) and a backpack will be delivered to your child. 100% of the proceeds from these sales goes straight to Cannon Elementary!

These are perfect for the upcoming Sky Ranch trip, field trips, soccer games, dance practice and more!

CUB DASH IS OCTOBER 28th!!

Register your child for the Cub Dash TODAY!! 

On Friday October 28th, all Cannon students will be participating in the Cub Dash during their regular scheduled specials time!

The Cub Dash an online pledge based obstacle course/run-a- thon that makes fundraising fun and healthy for kids! ALL students will receive their free t-shirt the week of the event and those that are registered will be eligible for some great incentives! A chance to win a Kindle, a Fit Bit HR, and a chance at a family 4pack season pass to Six Flags over Texas! There are special prizes & incentives for teachers who have the most participation in their classes, so please help promote this to your scholars!

All parents should go online and register your child for free of charge at:www.thegetmovincrew.com. Click on the big red box on the lower left side of the screen that says, Let's Get Movin - Get Registered, Parent Login. Here you will register your student and create your own personal webpage. Parents will be able to send this webpage out via email, Facebook, and or Twitter to at least 5 people (donations do NOT have to be made online, cash and checks can be turned in to teachers).

PTA is also seeking parent volunteers for this event to come help supervise and facilitate all of the fun activities planned for students during their Specials time on 10/28.

Counselor's Corner- Red Ribbon Week

REFLECTIONS CONTEST - 2016-2017

The Reflections program recognizes students at the Local, Council/Region, State and National PTA levels. At each level, all entries are judged on interpretation of the theme, creativity and artistic merit. For more information, visit www.txpta.com/reflections and information will be sent home in backpacks soon!
The Reflections program is open to all Texas students who meet the necessary requirements below:
1. Students must attend a school with a Local PTA/PTSA which achievesActive Status no later than October 31; or students must attend a school which is defined within the service area of a community-based Local PTA/PTSA which achieves Active Status no later than October 31. (DONE!!!)
2. The student or at least one person from their primary household must be a current member of the Local PTA/PTSA where the student is participating. Each Local PTA/PTSA may determine a date by which the member must join. (HAVE YOU JOINED???)
