Scholars connected with the Bullock Texas State History Museum in Austin, Texas to participate in their Distance Learning program: First Encounters: When the Conquistadors Met the Karankawa. Students were engaged as the museum's expert showed pictures and artifacts while asking questions and discussing with students how where the Karankawa tribe lived impacted how they lived. What a great connection to our students' research about the Texas Regions and American Indian tribes in Texas! This also was a wonderful introduction to our upcoming unit in Social Studies- "The Lure of Texas"!
